Park Eun Sun

“My sculptures outline a spatial expansion to infinity that can be linked to the desires, progress and hopes of man, as well as to the infinite desire for power in a proliferation that has no limits.”

Park Eun Sun (Born 1965) is originally from South Korea, where he graduated from the Art School of Kyung-Hee University with a degree in sculpture. After moving to Italy, he continued his studies at the Carrara Academy of Art. Since 1993, he has dedicated himself to sculpture, residing in Pietrasanta, Italy. (Read More)

Renowned for his granite and marble structures, Park skillfully organizes them into various shapes, evoking a formal resemblance to Minimalist Art. These sculptures originate from basic and sturdy geometric forms such as cubes, spheres, cylinders, and interconnected tubular rings. Park employs alternating layers of granite or marble to infuse dynamism into the volume’s plasticity, enhancing the interplay of light on the curved surfaces of his spheres and columns.

In Park’s sculptures, there is a consistent rejection of rigid rational-geometric predictability, instead favoring asymmetry, the expansion of forms, and the exploration of internal spaces through cracks and voids. His works engage in a dialogue between fullness and emptiness, height and depth, celestial and terrestrial realms, individual parts and the whole, as well as humanity and the cosmos. Park’s artistic process is intricate and demanding, as he pours his passion and dedication into crafting timeless sculptures of indescribable beauty.
